YG GOVERNING BODY

The highest body of the Young Generation of the CNS is the General Meeting, which meets at least once a year. The General Meeting elects the Chairman, Vice-Chairmen and members of the Council, which together form the executive body of the Young Generation of the CNS – the Council.

Chairman

Ing. Ondřej Novák

FNSPE CTU in Prague

Responsibilities: organizational and membership matters, representative in ENYGF, representative in the CNS committee

Ondřej Novák graduated from FNSPE CTU in Prague, where he also obtained his PhD. He now works at the Department of Nuclear Reactors. His expertise focuses on neutron detection during fast transient processes and on analyses of energy development in relation to nuclear power. He leads research projects aimed at analyses of the Czech energy sector in the context of transformation, the development of large nuclear units and SMRs, and hydrogen production. He has long been the chairman of the Young Generation of the Czech Nuclear Society. He has completed extended research stays, for example as a Fulbright scholar at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, as well as in Paris laboratories of CEA and elsewhere.

The Council of the Young Generation

Ondřej Kořistka

FNSPE CTU in Prague

I am a graduate of the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering of CTU in Prague in the field of Radiological Physics. I currently work in radiation physics and dosimetry, focusing on gamma-ray spectrometry, decommissioning of nuclear facilities, monitoring radionuclides in the environment, and teaching students at CTU. As part of my dissertation, I measure radon concentrations in caves and statistically analyze them in connection with seismic activity prediction. I am an enthusiastic teacher and science popularizer. In addition to teaching at CTU, I also teach physics at a high school and give extracurricular DVPP courses for primary and secondary school teachers. I give popular science lectures at high schools, run my own experimental roadshow, deliver lectures and practicals for the University of the Third Age, and provide professional training courses in radiation protection. In my free time, I pilot ultralights, lead children's camps, or ponder the big questions of the universe!

Michal Cihlář

Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, CTU in Prague and Research Centre Řež Ltd.

I am a doctoral student at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, CTU in Prague – field of Nuclear Power Equipment. I also work at the Research Centre Řež in the Department of Hazardous Waste Processing and Disposal. I have been a member of the Young Generation CNS committee for the second term.
My broader field of interest is molten salt reactors (MSR) and fluoride-salt-cooled high-temperature reactors (FHR). The specific topics I focus on are twofold. First, corrosion testing of structural materials in molten salts and the related materials research. Second, studying the verification of applicability and scalability of simplified experiments with simulant fluids for molten salt applications. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, not only to places connected with nuclear energy.

Tomáš Peltan

University of West Bohemia / Research Centre Řež Ltd.

Tomáš Peltan is currently finishing his PhD at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. At the same time, he works at the Research Centre Řež in the LR-0 reactor operation department as a research worker, reactor shift supervisor, and control physicist. His focus is reactor physics and related experimental activities. His hobbies include collecting and repairing old dosimeters and tinkering in general.

Pavel Máca

Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication, Brno University of Technology

He graduated in Power Engineering at Brno University of Technology and is currently a PhD student under the supervision of Professor Karel Katovský. He focuses mainly on simulations, specifically neutron-physics simulations of the core and PWR/VVER fuel assemblies. As part of his dissertation, he studies the burnup analysis of high-density fuel for LWR reactors.

Ing. et Ing. Jiří Puchnar

ČEZ plc

In 2013, he began his career in the nuclear industry as a secondary circuit operator at the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant.
He now works as the Head of the EDU Control Support Group.
He actively collaborates with international organizations WANO and OSART.
For over 10 years, he and his friends have been running the website Oenergetice.cz.

Ing. Jitka Kahoun Hejhalová

Faculty of Civil Engineering, CTU in Prague

My name is Ing. Jitka Kahoun Hejhalová, and I graduated from CTU, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on manufacturing technologies, metrology, project management, and materials engineering. Since 2020, I have been working at ÚJV Řež, a.s., as a materials engineer. I have the honor of contributing to the implementation of witness programs for Czech and Slovak nuclear power plants. I focus mainly on the issue of TNR support elements and irradiation experiments in LVR-15.
